SEVEN PRODUCTS TO SAVE YOUR SKIN THIS FALL

SEVEN PRODUCTS TO SAVE YOUR SKIN THIS FALL

Seven Fall Skincare

With autumn about, I’ve had many requests for this skincare post. As I was sitting writing in our favorite Jackson Hole bakery, in perfect timing, my husband looked up from his cappuccino and suggested I reach for the chapstick. Touché. Flakiness: ideal when it comes to my favorite almond croissant, but less desirable when making dinner plans, and even less so when it comes to my skin. Between altitude changes and drying plane air, it is a constant battle to keep my skin and especially my lips hydrated, not to mention aglow this time of year.

At 6,237 feet above sea level, my hometown is the perfect early-season testing grounds for skincare product while others await turn of autumn. Fall is most definitely here in Jackson. Leaves have already turned bright yellow, elk are bugling, coyotes are howling, and tonight’s low is a perky 29 degrees, which gives me the chance to bring into rotation some of my tried-and-true skin salves. I've tested all of these over the years (and plenty that didn’t make the cut) and here’s what I use to help give my skin a chance against the elements. (Bonus: everything’s under $100.)

Embryolisse Lait Creme

I first started using this French beauty cult favorite about six years ago, and it has been on my nightstand ever since. It’s a light but rich creme and doesn’t leave skin feeling greasy.

Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum

Another classic that can always be found in my beauty bag, I layer this on before the Embryolisse or even pat it all over my face for a mid-day lift.

Avène Thermale Cold Cream Lip Balm

This is the balm I reached for earlier. It is non-oily, not waxy, and has some serious staying power.

Lucas’ Paw Paw Ointment

Another tried and true for the last half-decade, I use the Australian-made Paw Paw Ointment on everything. Lips, cuticles, even as a heavy duty hand moisturizer, it is derived from papaya and is a great alternative to petroleum-based salves.

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub

Just found this at our local fav, the Aspens Market, which, by the way, is one of my favorite sources for curated, natural skin care in JH. At just around $9, it makes a great alternative to my usual favorite from Tata Harper.

M61 PowerGlow Peel

This came into rotation earlier this year, and is the perfect addition to my morning routine. It gently exfoliates dead skin cells, leaving skin more radiant.

GOE OIL

I recently picked this up at the Alpyn Beauty Bar, and despite its slightly steeper price point, I’m hopeful it will be a long-lasting handbag staple to keep my hands and fingers from cracking in the cold.
